York Curiouser 2014 commissioned artist Matt Hawthorne and his artwork Everything There is To Be Known was performed on the River Foss and during a walk with the River Foss Society along the banks of the River Foss. Royal blue balloons were released into the environment and once their ice block moorings melted away floated up into the sky with umbrella shaped balsam wood cutouts. The umbrellas were impressed with stories, which explored people’s interactions with the landscape, see York Curiouser.
